The next diet of RSAMD Traditional Music Grade Exams for Fiddle and Accordion will take place in RSAMD on the 24 and 25 March 2009. Harp exams will take place during the Edinburgh Harp Festival at Merchiston Castle School, Edinburgh, on 3 April 2009. These exams will be for Grades 1 – 5. You can apply to sit examinations at anytime during the year but please be advised that the closing date for the March/April exams will be Friday 24th February 2009. Forms can be downloaded from our website (http://gradedexams.rsamd.ac.uk) and returned online or if you require a hard copy please feel free to give us a call using the details below and we will be happy to send one out to you. Our graded exam syllabuses, available to download free as PDFs, include information on where the tunes can be found in existing printed sources in the arrangement deemed appropriate for the given grade. Where a tune (or tune arrangement) is listed which is not yet available in any printed source, that tune is available to purchase and download from traditional music publisher Taigh na Teud. Simply go to www.playscottishmusic.com and click on 'RSAMD Exams' in the menu to the left. RSAMD and Taigh na Teud are working together to compile all tunes in the named repertoires into a dedicated series of Graded Exams printed collections, obtainable wherever Taigh na Teud publications are sold. Check out our What's new page periodically for updates on progress. Special Visits If you have a minimum of 10 applicants you can apply for a Special Visit where we would arrange to come to you. If you do not have 10 students ready to sit their exam why not ask around and see if you can team up with other tutors/people in your area in order to increase numbers. For more information on this please visit the TMGE website http://gradedexams.rsamd.ac.uk Seminars and Workshops If you and your colleagues would like to know more about the exams we would be very happy to come and do a seminar/workshop for you. Seminars will give you the chance to find out more about the practical assessments and supporting tests, the requirements and general information regarding the examinations. If you have limited experience of teaching traditional music and have pupils wishing to sit these exams a seminar would give you the chance to find out more about the style and techniques that examiners will be looking for in each grade. Seminars can be arranged at any point during the year so please do get in touch if you would like to find out more and we will be happy to come and visit you if we can. Please feel free to contact Sharon Hasson on 0141 270 8316 if you would like any further information regarding the Traditional Music Grade Exams or Seminars and Workshops.
