FIFE YOUTH ORCHESTRA

Fife Youth Orchestra recently took on board 33 new members following auditions for places and the new Orchestra of 74 players met for its first rehearsal on 6th October.  A concentrated period of rehearsal will take place at the Orchestra’s residential course at Scottish Centre’s Loaningdale House in Biggar from 10th until 14th of October following which the first public performance of the year will be given at Lochgelly Centre Theatre on Wednesday 29th October, 2008 at 7.30pm.  Tickets are priced £6 and £4 with free entry for school pupils although they must have a ticket.  These can be obtained form the Box Office (01592 583367).

Later in the year, the Orchestra will perform in the Dunfermline and St Andrews areas (February 2009) and again in the Festival of British Youth Orchestras in Glasgow and Edinburgh in late August 2009.  An additional and prestigious performance will be given to open the Trinity Guildhall Scottish Showcase at Perth Concert Hall on Sunday 1st March 2009.  As always, Fife Youth Orchestra, the “singing orchestra” will also perform as a choir.

Young musicians like these members of Fife Youth orchestra need to be encouraged.  Giving them a large audience at their concert on 29th October would please them and boost their confidence.  Have a great night out!
